Christmas and movies.

Every year around Christmas I watch the same movies, occasionally I find a new one that I like and will add that to the list but then these films have specific criteria or they wouldn’t be on the list in the first place. The missus will watch some of them with me, but most are childish or not up to her standards OR she saw it with me on the last festive period and so won’t watch it this time. She also has criteria, but her’s are the sort of mercifull criteria that the Japanese gave to prisoners of war during the 40’s.

By criteria I mean, if I saw it one christmas then it makes the list as a Christmas movie. Especially if I saw that movie as a kid anywhere towards Christmas. That will mean many films are not really Christmasy by popular definition.

It will be interesting to see how many I can squeeze in this year.

1 – Hook. Production on this movie looks mental and awesome. Not many movies have sets these days, epecially not the fantasy kind of movies. Or they look too slick and too refined. Also, Jack Sparrow might be the typical pirate for most 16 year olds these days but Dustin Hoffmans Captain Hook is awesome.

2- nothing…but I did work like a dog all day and night.

3 – Patton. I bought this because it was 3hours long and I needed something to do to pass the time on a day off towards a christmas 2004 or 2003 or something. After watching it I reccomended it to every one of my friends and they either bought it, DL’d it or watched it with me on a replay the day after. It’s awesome, if you didn’t know. Anyway, it’s not a Christmas movie as such but like many on this list they ARE Christmas movies to me.
